About the Spot

The Spot is a small, friendly bar well known by the locals in La Jolla, California. Located on the corner of Prospect Street and Girard Avenue, its green awnings and open windows welcome passerbys. It was in 1984, sitting right at one of the tables, that Mary Ellen and Thom Vernon came up with the name "Fresh Produce" for their new graphic tee business. Over beers, burgers and conversation, Fresh Produce was born. Like the true Spot, we wanted to create a place where you can meet, come in and stay a while. You’re in the company of good friends here. From simple wisdoms to our happy outlook, we hope our blog inspires you to live a bright and colorful life. Here’s to shining on!
