Take the Party Outside

Warm weather, sunshine, grilling, great friends. These four factors mean one thing for us—outdoor entertaining. We’re ready to break out the patio furniture, get the grill started and invite some friends over  for a fun, al fresco party. Whether it’s for Memorial Day coming up soon, or simply a Sunday Funday, having an outdoor fiesta is a great way to kick off your summer. To get you in the mood for entertaining and to spruce up your spread, here are a few ideas to try the next time you’re hosting.

Every outdoor party could use a little mood lighting. Play with what you like best, but strands of lights and candles both create a beautiful ambience.

Color can be found in your closet and in your home, so why not the backyard? Add a little color by bringing in bright patio cushions or chairs. Take on a bigger project by putting down a stone walkway, but paint the stones for the ultimate bright pop.

Need a little refreshment? Go beyond the typical cooler and dress up your drinks in a fun display. Create an accessible mini bar or find a wheel barrel to load up with ice and refreshments. These will keep things just as cool, but in a cute fashion.

Every party needs some entertainment for the kids! Lawn Twister, created with ground marking spray paint, is a fun start to a backyard yard party. Plus, a Tic-Tac-Toe set can be made in a short time by using a wood stub and painted rocks.

We are dying to try this Movie Night theme party in our own yard. Put up a white sheet or screen, grab the projector, a good movie, some comfy blankets and pillows and you have the ultimate movie night planned.

With every great party comes unwanted guests. Keep away mosquitos and other pesty bugs with these homemade bug repellent lanterns. Find out how to make them here.
