We love color, we love comfort and we love effortless. One thing we also love is supporting our own backyard. For the past 30 years, Fresh Produce has been producing American Made styles right in sunny California.
Over the last 12 months, 80 percent of all Fresh Produce clothing sold was made in America. In comparison, the American Apparel and Footwear Association reports that less than five percent of all apparel sold in the U.S. in 2013 was made in the U.S. We directly support nearly 300 U.S. jobs in 26 company-owned retail locations and in our Gardena, Calif.-based warehouse. We’re also supporting more than 400 independent retailers who sell Fresh Produce clothing across the nation.
Supporting the USA has always been an important part of our DNA since the first time our founders Thom and Mary Ellen Vernon sold their popular silk-screened T-shirts at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Now, 30 years later, we’ve expanded our line well beyond silk-screened apparel to include comfortable clothing with inspiring colors, vibrant prints, and stylish designs that you love so much. “From day one we’ve made a conscious effort to support our own backyard,” says Mary Ellen Vernon. “Fresh Produce’s commitment to celebrating and supporting the artisan spirit, craftsmanship and quality of American-made products remains at the forefront of who we are.”
That’s why we’re so excited to debut our American Made Story with this very special film that shows how we support our own backyard and why it’s the commitment that inspires our everyday.
