Behind the Print: Sayulita

It’s no secret that we love color at Fresh Produce. So when people ask what has inspired our colorful and vibrant seasonal prints, we enjoy sharing the real-world stories of how each one got its unique design. The story behind the Sayulita print begins in a sleepy Mexican village just north of Puerto Vallarta.

Bountiful Beaches, Beyond Beautiful

Sayulita is tucked between sun swept ocean and lush jungle. This off-the-beaten-path village was not discovered until the late 1960s, when traveling surfers put it on the map. It’s still very popular with surfers today, boasting a perfect beginning surf break. Meaning, it has a rounded rocky reef that breaks a main wave into another wave you can surf.

The beaches are simply beautiful along the sunny unspoiled shores and the jungle retreats are a perfect place to hide away. That’s probably why Sayulita is often called the “crown jewel” of Riviera Nayarit. We can only imagine how blissful island life was back when native tribes roamed the wilderness.

Today, Sayulita attracts tourists from all over, drawn to everything from art galleries and open-air eateries to jungle canopy tours. And there’s always a scenic spot anywhere on the island if you just want to let your mind drift.
