Hilton Head, SC: The perfect pick for an active family, Hilton Head features tons of award winning golf courses, countless tennis courts and miles of biking trails. As the first planned resort community, Hilton Head Island also has a rich history, along with luxury shopping boutiques and dining options.
Sanibel Island, FL: Just offshore from Fort Myers, Sanibel is a barrier island that is arguably one of the best beaches to go shelling, with beaches of shells instead of sand. Because it is only a few blocks wide, the beach and the bay are accessible from anywhere on the island, but you’ll find much more on the island: an amusement park, water park, mini golf courses, excellent boutiques and restaurants are a few things that make Beach Haven comes alive during the summer with visitors.
Coronado Beach in San Diego, CA: Close to the San Diego Zoo and Sea World, Coronado Beach has topped many “best beach” lists. Featuring clean sand and gentle waves, it’s a popular spot that many claim to have the cleanest and warmest water in southern California. Although it’s only 1.5 mile long, this beach is a must-see.
Siesta Key, near Sarasota, FL: Winner of the Best US Beach of 2011 as chosen by Stephen Leatherman, also known as Dr. Beach, Siesta Key boasts some of the whitest, smoothest sand in the world composed 99% of quartz, unlike most coral sands, and has clear, warm waters ideal for swimming.
