Fresh Produce has its beginnings at the 1984 LA Olympic Games, where Co-Founders Thom & Mary Ellen Vernon sold screenprint t’s that captured the spirit of the games and the 80’s! (And who doesn’t think back on the 80’s with a smile?)
With the 2012 London Olympics just around the corner (they start July 27, if you want to start counting down), we’ve had the ’84 games on our minds!
To commemorate our beginnings, we’ve re-released a screenprint originally sold 28 years ago by co-founders Thom & Mary Ellen at the Olympics. Fittingly, it’s on the Vintage Slub Scoop T and it’s limited edition, so get one while they last!
It’s hard to believe we’ve been around for 28 years, but we have the LA Olympics to thank for our start! These photos are straight from Thom & Mary Ellen’s scrapbook—it was here where they realized there was potential in selling comfy t’s, and we’re so glad they went forward with their business venture!
- Sam the Olympic Eagle was the official mascot
- The famous theme “Olympic Fanfare and Theme” was composed by John Williams for the ’84 Games
- 140 nations participated
- The games were the most financially successful in history, generating a profit of more than $200 million
