Good Vibrations

A playlist of coastal-inspired classic tunes

Summer-Beach-Playlist

Picture a sporty red convertible. You’re headed up the coast. Wind in your hair, sun on your face, and miles of clear, ocean blue. What do you hear, a favorite soundtrack?

Music always takes us back to the places we love. So, why don’t we slip away to the colorful coast right now? We promise you’ll be back before dinner. Simply hit play and listen to the soothing sounds that remind us of the shore.

We can’t get enough of Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys. Maybe it is the opening line, “I love the colorful clothes she wears.” But the upbeat sound is still as fresh to us today, as it was then.

It’s hard not to imagine a quiet tide rolling in listening to Summer Breeze by Seals & Crofts. Blowing through the jasmine in my mind sounds extra appealing right now.

Calls to mind the seaside, with a cool drink in your hand and Sheryl Crow singing Soak up the Sun, got my 45 on, so I can rock on. Brings back fond memories of fun-filled afternoons at the beach.

Under the Boardwalk by The Drifters reminds us of Coney Island, strolling along the sun-swept pier and reaching for a handful of pastel-colored saltwater taffy. Endless blue skies, rolling waves and this classic tune playing over and over.

Turn up the volume on Blake Shelton’s Some Beach, where palm trees are always growing and warm breezes blowing. Makes us want to grab the clamdigger pants and head to where life is better in the sun and on the sand.

We absolutely love The Girl from Ipanema by Stan Getz, and Astrud & João Gilberto — inspired by a girl in Rio de Janeiro walking to the sea. The coastal melody moves like a tropical breeze floating above the beaches in Brazil.

What do you say we just take a little getaway? Coastal by Kenny Chesney inspires upbeat thoughts of sand and shade and soaking up the shoreline. That’s an idea we’d warm up to anytime.

Into the Mystic, by Van Morrison tops our list of favorites. This song’s soothing tempo is like a sunset sail in the Caribbean. Smell the sea and feel the sky… you almost can.

What songs make your coastal classics list? Are there any must-listens that we missed?
