Tops To Flatter

We often hear customers proclaim, “Fresh Produce has something for everyone!” but we want to prove it to you!

Finding the perfect-fitting top is sometimes difficult. “It looked so great on the hanger, but it just doesn’t look right on me!” is a common frustration overheard at dressing rooms.

Knowing yourself and what types of clothes look best on YOU is a huge advantage when trying on clothes or buying them online. We have some tips prepared for different types of women. (And we LOVE the fact that everyone is different!)

If you have a…

Small Bust: Women with smaller busts should look for tops and dresses with details around the neckline like ruffles, cowlnecks or beading. You should also look for clothes with an empire waist; clothes that are fitted at the waist can make busts appear smaller. The perfect FP choice for you?

The Ruffle V-Neck T is available in three prints (Fiji, Happyness and Tunisia) and 22 solids! The v-shape with ruffle detail helps embellish the neckline, drawing attention to the details. Scoop necks are also great for women with smaller busts.

Large Bust: Women with larger busts look wonderful in cardigans, v-necks with tanks underneath and wrap dresses. One of many options from FP that will help keep you covered without overheating you this summer:

The Key West Vest is a must-have this season for women with larger busts. It will give more coverage over a dress and help add contrast when paired with other colors. The length of the vest allows it to pair well with long tops and dresses and its flowing fit will help you drift through those long, warm days!

Long Torso: Whether you have long or short legs, there are a few things to keep in mind to flatter the length of your torso. Wear a belt at your waist whenever possible and roll up, cuff or wear ¾ sleeves that meet at your middle when your arms are at your side to help break up your torso and accentuate your waist.

The Classic Stripe Buttonside Henley is extremely flattering on long torsos because of the sleeve length and the horizontal stripes. Take advantage of looking great in stripes!

Short Torso: Contrary to what many think, longer tops are flattering on women with short torsos. Pair a longer top with fitted pants or leggings for a great combo. Tunics fitted at the hips and dresses with empire waists are also good options over something that fits at your waist. Long scarves are perfect for short torsos, too, and they can be paired with nearly every outfit to help give a vertical dimension. Our FP choice for you:

The Voile Tunic, available in three prints, is great for summer. The adjustable drawstrings let you decide how you want the neckline to fit, but any v-neck, scoop or square-neck top looks great on short torsos because they add a vertical element, helping to elongate you.

Do you have any styles you look for that look best on you? We’d love to hear your tips and tricks…comment below!

What about women with tummy issues? After baby number 3 my stomach is larger then my bust and hips!

Hi, Amy! I would suggest looking for tops with an empire waist and anything that flows on the bottom half of the shirt. They will keep you covered while still giving you a nice fit up top. Any of our Vintage Drape T’s add a nice touch with the uneven hemline…so it’s not just hanging there. Other good options are the BFF Top, which has a nice fit on top without being fitted in the wrong places: http://freshproduceclothes.com/clothes/tops/the-bff-top.html and the Float Above Top: http://freshproduceclothes.com/clothes/tops/float-above-top.html which has nice detail at the neck while keeping it flowy around your tummy! Hope this helps! Thanks for commenting.

Why don’t you offer the wrap dress and long pants in Plus sizes? You also have problems with the format for ordering items. When you get to the checkout, it asks you if you are a Member or returning customer. I have had to reenter as a new customer as the member site will not move forward. Does your site not work on weekends or nights? Also, you need to show what the items look like in ALL the colors.

Hi, Jackie! We are working on offering more and more items for plus sizes each season. Be on the look out next season for a few more dresses and some pedal pushers. I will let our design team know you are interested in a wrap dress and pants…they are always grateful for input. Our color feature is brand new on the site and will eventually allow customers to shop by color. Each season we will be adding photos of new products in every color, and we apologize if not having older colors has caused difficulties. I will also pass on the word about the website hiccup you encountered to our webmaster and online business manager. If you’re having a lot of difficulties with the site loading properly, we recommend going to your browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc) settings and clearing your cache. We’ve had a lot of site updates, and having old data in your cache may be causing it to run slow. Hope this helps!

Your original short sleeve shirts have longer short sleeves. The are better than the short short or 3/4 sleeves in the summer. Any chance the will return.

Hi, Jo! We have heard this from so many customers, so we have just recently brought a 1/2 sleeve shirt to our line. http://freshproduceclothes.com/clothes/tops/hazy-days-1-2-sleeve-top.html It’s not too long to cover the elbows, but longer than short sleeves. It’s also available in the GoFish print! Hope this is helpful and what you’re looking for!

Hi, I love FP but am right between sizes 8 & 10 (36″ on top) and never know if I should order a S or M. I was thinking of getting the new Key West Vest and Swing Pants. Any suggestions?

Mary Ellen, I’d say this depends on whether you prefer your clothes to be more fitted or more loose. Both of these items would probably be fine in a size small as the swing pants are very stretchy and have loosely fitted legs and the key west vest is, well, a cotton vest. But, if you like your clothes to be looser, I think a medium would also work fine. Hope this helps!
