Sunrise Gives 2012 A Pop!

Our passion for bright, happy colors is well known. Even on a cloudy day, the right color can make you feel sunny and light. Imagine our delight when we discovered one of our favorite colors made the cut as the Hottest Color Trend for 2012.

Tangerine Tango (or as we at Fresh Produce like to call it “Sunrise”) scooped away the title from 2011 winner, Honeysuckle (picked for being an inspiration to face life’s everyday troubles with verve and vigor). Building off of last year’s theme, Pantone chose Tangerine Tango because the color lends energy to change and move forward. Every season, the color experts at the Pantone Color Institute put forth a palette of exciting new colors used all over the art and design world, from fashion to web. And every year, Pantone deems one color worthy enough to be the “hottest color”. 2012’s winner is a gorgeous and fun one.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director at Pantone, wanted a color that would be complementary to all the change we’re witnessing in the world: “There’s the element of encouragement with orange, it’s building on the ideas of courage and action, that we want to move on to better things. I think it would be a disservice to go with a relaxed, soothing color now.”

This was an interesting email. It was very informative. As an artist, color is very important to me. I think orange is a tough color to wear. For me personally, I must stay away from any orange that tends toward the yellow. I think of “tangerine” in this family. The closest thing to orange that I can wear is a pink coral and that is not great. I would never choose any shade of orange for a top. I might choose it for capris but probably not. I stay away from yellows and yellow greens, also. I am better in vibrant but cooler tones like periwinkle, turquoise, aqua, hot pink rather than tangerine, burgundy rather than scarlet. I am glad I have that choice at Fresh Produce. Actually, the “in” color does not effect my choice. I choose colors that flatter me and that would not be orange.

I like your ideas for layering, especially the sunrise and white. This will help me mix and match the Fresh Produce I have, even add to the pieces. Love the colors! Enjoy ordering online, great layouts, easy to use.

  8. I have always worn orange – orange lipstick, orange dress on the first day of school teaching, orange to brighten and shine wherever I am. It always looked looked and produced cheer and happiness to others who liked it.
